BEST OF THE NET

I’ve submitted my six nominations for Best of the Net 2019, a task which involved reading and selecting from 411 qualifying poems. A difficult but enjoyable undertaking, which reminded me of the quality submissions I’ve received from writers from all over the world, helping make Nine Muses Poetrys first year a success. I am genuinely grateful to all who submitted, but I had to choose six poems, and these are (in no particular order):

Glossed Over – Amy Charlotte Kean
Tuesday Afternoon at Magpie’s Grill – Luanne Castle
Home Alone – Diana Cant
The Last Black Woman – Sheree Mack
Good daughters – Kate Garrett
Encounter with Skyscrapers – Godwin Tan

Good luck to all nominees!

I’m thrilled to announce that Outside In by Deirdre Fagan, one of my nominations for Best of the Net 2018, is a finalist:

Massive congratulations to Deirdre, a well-deserved finalist with her outstanding poem! Her poem is here (the third one):

I nominated six poems for the Best of the Net 2018. I read and re-read the 80 or so qualifying poems many times (poems first published here by 30 June 2018), and in the end went with my gut instinct – those which made a strong initial impact on me, and which stayed with me a long time afterwards. Of course, I love all the poems which have appeared, or I wouldn’t have published them, but I had to choose six, and these are (in no particular order):
