One Poem by Lucie Payne

Written in response to this month’s Special Challenge.

Celestial Bodies

Wait while I kiss you
You are almost smoke
And we’ve so little time.

The moon’s pearly ghost
Has brought you to me
A celestial secret

Illicit under cloud
Safe under our tunics
And fleeting in your embrace.

Watch out, I’m almost gone!
Your arms so loose around me
My body so close to slipping

Only your gaze pins me here
Up in the heavens’
Eternal night.

Lucie Payne has been a school librarian for many years but long before that she wrote little books, secret stories and poetry. She used to publish in small indie journals, took a long furlough to nurture others and is now returning to her writing.
